Commissioner David Stern believes he is leaving the NBA in great shape and in great hands in looking back on his nearly 30-year tenure as the league’s boss.  Speaking before what will be his final NBA lottery, the 70-year-old Stern admitted Tuesday he has made some mistakes in running the league but noted that not every decision has a happy ending.  6Stern announced earlier this season that he will step down on Feb, 1, coinciding with his 30th year on the job.

Number 1 Pick Two Years in a Row

Nick Gilbert and the Cleveland Cavaliers have beaten the NBA lottery odds again.  The Cavaliers won the lottery for the second time in three years Tuesday, giving them the No. 1 pick for the June 27 draft.

The Cavs took Kyrie Irving out of Duke last year for the number one pick.  “Kyrie is a hell of a player … but this also felt almost as good,” Nick Gilbert said. “That was the first time. This is the second time, but man does it feel good to get the first pick this last time. Get that last player to give us a push.”

Respect for the Best, Misinterpretations

Sunday, coach Vogel was reported saying that the Heat were just another team after making it to the NBA finals. bilde

“Sorry, sports world, the words ‘just another team’ never came out of my mouth. Great respect for LBJ and the champs. Looking forward to [a] great series,” Vogel said Monday, according to NBA.com.

What’s next year going to be like for Dwight in LA? Or will he relocate teams again?

The Los Angeles Lakers do not yet know Dwight Howard’s decision for next season, but the All-Star center made his feelings about Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni known before starting his offseason. Howard was one of several Lakers – Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol being the most noteworthy — to have an extended separate meeting with the GM after his exit interview with both Kupchak and coach D’Antoni.

LeBron James defends his team

This is what LeBron James had to say in respond to the Indiana Pacers coach’s comment: “We’re not just another team,” James said. “I don’t understand what he’s saying. But we’re not just another team. That’s not true. He said we’re just another team in their way. We’re a great team. If we’re just another team, you really don’t prepare for just another team. You have to prepare for us.”wv7Wc.St.56
